Real-Time Systems Hermann Kopetz. I had only heard of priority inheritance before reading this, and now I see that one can do much better. The book can be vomputing as an undergraduate- and graduate-level textbook for courses involving real-time systems.

The initial chapters are a good introduction to real-time systems for beginners. Michael Scott marked it as to-read Aug 18, Overall, the book is an excellent introductory textbook for predictable scheduling in hard real-time computing systems, combining the right balance of theory and practice.
Despite such a large number of critical applications, most of the current real-time systems are still designed and implemented using low level comouting and empirical techniques without the support of a precise scientific methodology.
